**Assistant Grocery Manager New World Ilam**

The position of Assistant Grocery Manager has become available within our supermarket and calls for a person who can plan, organise, and control the day-to-day operations of our Grocery Department. You will assist our Grocery Manager in leading a team dedicated to retail and customer service excellence.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a busy Christchurch store. We offer a great team culture and a strong team focus. You will have the opportunity to build on your leadership skills through the Foodstuffs leadership training program.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Leading, managing and inspiring our grocery team
- Overall responsibilities for making grocery purchasing decisions and strategies for the store
- Assisting in all aspects of category management
- Ability to achieve targets
- Ensuring speed to market with new products and managing the deletion process
- Maintaining a high standard of merchandising
- Retail Duty Management
- The implementation of Health and Safety and Food Safety standards

**The skills and attributes**:

- A great team leader/player, passionate about inspiring and motivating a team to deliver to their potential and our high levels of in store execution
- Expert knowledge of purchasing products across all grocery categories
- Possesses excellent negotiation and analytical skills
- Sound financial skills and full understanding of how to deliver financial targets
- A commitment to superior customer service
- Initiative and integrity
- Excellent presentation, communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to be imaginative and innovative
- A forklift license

**Hours**

This is a permanent fulltime role (40 hours). Hours will be discussed in the interview, but will include a weekend day. Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
