Auckland City, New Zealand Auckland Council Full time

Join Australasia's leading local government provider of asset management solutions
- Open space capital works and renewals project design
- Design services for a variety of open space asset categories for our community

**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

Parks & Community Facilities (PCF) is dedicated to making great places Aucklanders love while supporting a number of related services such as asset management and renewals of existing structures and open areas. Committed to a lifecycle approach to asset management, we work to build, maintain and renew our world class community buildings and public spaces including parks, walkways, libraries and leisure centres. As kaitiaki (guardian) of Auckland Council facilities, we play a vital role in promoting the wellbeing of our communities while also delivering strategically significant programmes.

We have an opportunity for a Landscape Architect to join us. As part of the Design Team in Parks & Community Facilities, you’ll be allocated a range of open space design services across the Auckland region. As this Unit acts as an internal landscape design service to all the areas and local boards of Auckland, you will be responsible for preparing ‘design services scopes and time frames’ based on the project scope and outcome provided by the business.

You’ll have a strong design sense, understand constructability and the ability to share and ‘illustrate’ such knowledge. These outcomes point to a person being approachable and having the ability to provide the ‘right’ design and site ‘fit’. The Parks & Community Facilities asset portfolio is wide and vast, and will require a wide knowledge of asset types, their functioning, key operational and design opportunities and challenges.

You’ll be able to work autonomously, demonstrate initiative and have a ‘natural sense’ of creating design outcomes which can be inspirational, attractive, inviting and safe.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

A strong design capability, relationship building and collaboration will be core to your success in this role. You’ll foster strong working relationships across a variety of areas, encouraging engagement and positively influencing all parties and be the catalyst to ensure a successful outcome.

We need a pragmatic individual with political nous who can achieve design outcomes through influence and good communication. You’ll have proven relevant experience in landscape design, interpersonal and communication skills and solid experience in the design journey within a large and often complex environments.

**Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer**

We will offer you a career enhancing opportunity, competitive remuneration and to be part of Auckland’s meaningful history. At the forefront of our community developments, you will be part of a team that is dynamic and passionate about what we do. You will play an important part in our Parks & Community Facilities department and across Council. Working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday; you will have some flexibility with how those hours are set.

If you are high performing, passionate about Auckland and the world around you and would like the chance to facilitate making tangible and visible improvements to our environment, then join us.
- You will be required to have a valid NZ driver's licence._
- This role is deemed safety sensitive and, in line with Auckland Council policy, you will be required to complete pre-employment drug & alcohol testing._

**Applications close Sunday, 21st April 2024**
- Auckland Council strongly encourages our employees to be fully vaccinated._
