Want to be involved in shaping your community and the Urban Forest? We are now looking for an Arboricultural Advisor to work in the Technical Services and Design Unit, providing advice and support to our design team for the planning and delivery of key projects.
**About the team | Ko te rōpū nei**
The Landscape Architecture and Environment team provide landscape design, planning and arboricultural advice to support the delivery of Council infrastructure projects across the City and the Peninsula. Notable projects include the Whiti-reia Cathedral Square rebuild and other central City projects, the Ōtakaro Avon River redzone, integrated water treatment facilities around the City, and input into the Urban Forest planting.
**About the role | Ko te mahi nei**
Using your experience and technical knowledge you will be involved in advising and supporting the delivery of Council projects, as well as the approval of landscaping in new subdivision developments. Your priorities include:
- Undertake tree assessments and work with specialists where required.
- Assist with reviewing and monitoring specifications and landscaping compliance for new subdivisions, ensuring future Council assets are constructed and maintained to highest quality.
- Provide sound technical advice to a range of Council staff on issues, ranging from contract administration to technical expertise that may have a financial impact on project budgets.
- Promote innovative and sustainable design practices which add value to project outcomes.
- Ensure there is no adverse impact on the Council, and that quality outcomes and environmental and Tangata Whenua requirements are delivered.
- Develop, maintain, and continue successful relationships and communication with peers, and with a diverse range of external and internal customers, stakeholders, and partners to provide collaborative planning and implementation.
**About you | Ko Koe Tēnei**
You will have a proven track record in fostering strong working relationships with clients and contractors, working effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, and be deadline focused. Ideally you will also have:
- Arboriculture qualification at level 6, or other arboriculture qualification with equivalent level of experience.
- A full, current vehicle driver's licence
- Seven years of relevant Arboriculture experience, with at least three years' experience in a similar role in a large scale/complex organisation, preferably local government.
- An understanding and experience of the Resource Management Act 1991 and the Christchurch District Plan, as well as the Construction Standard Specification (CSS) and Councils Tree Policy.
