- Location: Auckland, NZ, 0624- Onsite or Hybrid: Hybrid**Babcock New Zealand **are looking for a** Procurement Specialist **to join our** team.**
**About the role**
Based on the **_Devonport Naval Base_**, you will be an integral part of the team that manages the Defence strategic upstream activity. You will facilitate the development of supplier relationships through best practices aligned to Babcock’s business objectives.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Facilitate end to end contract negotiations with current and potential suppliers.
- Drive the RFQ/RFI/RFT process.
- Develop, support and monitor key initiatives to ensure maximum savings and benefits.
- Conduct regular reviews on key suppliers.
- Build and develop supplier and key stakeholder relationship.
- Lead supplier escalations and engagement where supplier performance is below established targets.
- Develop, lead and execute procurement plans and sourcing strategies based on research and analysis to optimise value for money outcomes and meet stakeholder needs and expectations.
- Adopt a systematic approach for identification and management of supply chain risks, in order to avoid, mitigate or eliminate negative impacts to Babcock and our customers.
**About you**
- You will have a Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Procurement and/or Logistics.
- Proven commercial acumen and negotiator, with thorough understanding of category management, supply chain mechanisms and risk assessment.
- Proven supply base management and strategic sourcing skills in a highly complex and regulated environment.
- Understanding of contract law, with exposure to complex contracts.
- Practitioner of procurement policies, processes and procedures related to category management.
- Cost accounting knowledge, with the ability to conduct detailed cost analysis, compare costs using TCO principles, and calculate should-costs.
- Exposure to Category Management and IFS (or similar ERP system) would be highly regarded.
