**About the role**:
Be accountable for the development of new meat and meat-based products as part of the Customer Innovation team, facilitating new product development between key business units tasked with executing NPD.

You will work with both internal and external providers of expertise to explore, validate and execute projects related to the development of new meat and meat-based products in alignment with the wider NPD and innovation strategy and priorities.

This role also has a requirement to lead Product Development of projects as required and support and drive the development & growth of our product development processes here at Silver Fern Farms. Work closely and collaborate with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external to the business, leading, managing NPD, and supporting existing products in production.

**What you bring to the team**:
Furthermore, you will have great relationship building skills, excitement for hands-on prototype development at benchtop level through to manufacturing environments and proven timeline agility. You will enjoy working with multiple stakeholders, multiple workstreams in a space that is constantly evolving so ability to multi-task is a must while keeping accurate and detailed information. Most importantly we are looking for someone with a passion for innovation, a flair for food and ability to get stuck in and have some fun.

Core skills and competencies we’re after:

- A relevant tertiary qualification in Food Technology, Food Science or Process Engineering
- Experience supporting technical operations of commercial food manufacturing
- A working knowledge of NZ food safety regulations
- Experience with sensory and taste panel work, including consumer research
- An understanding of GMP, RMP, and HACCP
- Understanding of stage-gate new product development process
- Experience generating on-pack information including nutritional information tables
- Understanding of shelf-life testing processes relating to new products
