**Job Description**:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
- To provide quality and timely survey, inspection and certification services for the I&E Regulatory Marine business based in the Mt Wellington office undertaking work within the national network.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES
- Fulfilling the responsibilities and authorities assigned to your position title as detailed in the SGS Management Manual
- To identify and assist in developing and securing both new business and new business opportunities
- Determine what steps need to be taken to ensure your work is error free and to ensure the appropriate person is made aware of the time, resources and training you consider necessary for this
- Identify your internal and external customers, determine and agree their requirements and ensure your output meets the standards you agree with them, every time
- Raise a Fix-It report when you observe an improvement opportunity or problem in SGS’s management system procedures
- Respond to requests for assistance from management and colleagues provided it does not interfere with the task or tasks you have been allocated
- Comply with SGS policies and procedures always
- To undertake the required training and complete registrations necessary to maintain full recognition/certification and technical competency always
- To issue certificates of survey and other similar documentation according to your signing authority
**Qualifications**:
- First-Class Marine Engineer’s Certificate and or a tertiary qualification in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture.
- Experience at sea or in the offshore industry and preferable qualifications and experience in Marine Surveying.
- A diploma in engineering from a recognised training establishment.
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in engineering / relevant technology or Science.
- Experience in surveying or inspection of boilers, pressure vessels and cranes is also preferable.

- Establishes and maintains effective relationship with customers and gains their trust and respect
- Gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in services
- Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve problems with effective solution, can see hidden problems
- Looks beyond the obvious and doesn’t stop at the first answer
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - is able to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication setting and can get messages across that have the desired effect
- A full and current New Zealand driver license
