Take accountability for the delivery of key programmes of work and large multi-dependency projects across ICT portfolios of strategic priority.
Transpower owns and operates the National Grid, which is at the very heart of the New Zealand economy. We transport electricity from where it is generated to large electricity users and the distribution businesses that deliver it to homes and businesses nationwide.
As System Operator, Transpower manages the power system in real time to ensure energy is flowing to where it is needed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week using Transpower's critical systems.
About the team
ICT portfolios, programmes, and projects (circa $50m per annum) are managed by our collaborative Delivery Services Team. Projects sit in portfolios that include Enterprise Services, Critical Applications, and Network, Infrastructure and Security Services.
About the opportunity
**This role ensures that**:
- IST strategic programmes are delivered in the most optimised (cost, time, safety, and quality) manner.
- Customers and stakeholders are well informed and engaged throughout the delivery according to all key dimensions.
- Appropriate governance mechanisms for Transpower are consistently followed, minimising risk and maximising benefits.
**Over the next 18-24 months you will also play a key role in**:
- Establishing, planning, and delivering programmes of work from strategic investment cases through to implementation and closure
- Taking accountability for end-to-end delivery of specific programmes of work, large multi-dependency, or integrated projects across the ICT Portfolios
- Defining scope and accurately estimating costs, timescales and resources required to deliver the work
- Building programme schedules, providing effective presentation of the overall objectives, gaining buy in and sign off
- Collaborating with the Portfolio Delivery Managers to ensure delivery is in accordance with business plans
- Providing resource planning, management, and forecasting for integrated projects / programmes of work
- Developing, implementing, and managing interdependency plans
- Analysing, evaluating, and managing programme risks and issues
- Communicating plans to internal Transpower teams and relevant external / vendor groups
About you
As a highly experienced Senior ICT Programme Manager, you'll have delivered ICT programmes in large and complex commercially focused organisations. With outstanding written and verbal communication skills, you are comfortable with both waterfall and agile delivery approaches and able to balance high work volumes with accuracy and attention to detail.
**Your CV and cover letter will clearly demonstrate**:
- 10+ years of relevant experience, delivering large programmes of work or key strategic projects
- Significant experience working in complex delivery
- Proven experience managing key stakeholders and managing large / complex business change projects
- Sound experience in delivering significant vendor RFIs/ RFPs
- Expert knowledge of programme management tools, processes, and practices
- Extensive knowledge of enterprise programme, management, organisational management, policies, practices, and technologies
- Excellent written and verbal communication and influencing skills at Executive and Board level
- Proven ability to provide expert advice to the organisation, Executive Leadership teams, and external parties
- Ability to quickly identify information and material to reach a decision and deal with ambiguity, resistance and / or competing priorities to progress work
- A tertiary qualification and / or equivalent relevant experience
- PMP®, Management of Portfolios (MoP®) or Managing Successful Programmes (MSP®) or an equivalent certification
