**Job Description**:
**Position**: Thermoforming Technician required, based at our Alto Packaging site in Albany.

Full time/ 40 hours per week, plus overtime if required.

As directed by the Team Leader or designated cover to attend and operate (load, start, stop and clean) production machinery and ancillary equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Organizing, managing and the delivery of materials plant and equipment to ensure the production of the product is in line with specifications and to make sure the product being packed meets the specification required by the workplace instructions.
- Ensuring accurate measuring and adding ingredients, objects, and supplies to machines and feeding mechanisms for mixing. Monitoring the process, controlling the flow of materials, and incorporating chemicals and colourants into the mixture.
- Ensuring operating controls to manage the flow of operation and the temperature, pressure, and speed
- Putting uncoated wire and cable through dies, cooling chambers, take-up reels, and plastic coating machinery.
- Putting rubber sheets, casings, beads, and ply on moulds, running rollers to remove air, running vulcanizer presses, and managing curing, checking output for flaws and compliance with specifications, doing small fixes, and keeping production records
- To uphold the quality requirement of delivery by establishing standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection, and maintenance according to engineering principles and safety regulations
- Assist team leaders with starting up machinery and troubleshooting of the machinery
- Training staff if and when directed.
- Analysing workforce utilisation, to determine worker and equipment efficiency.
- Ensure labour utilization, minimising waste, and optimising scraps all while upholding the quality requirement of delivery.
- Support other members of the team
- To maintain a hygienic site which meets food packaging hygiene standards
- To make sure the product being packed meets the specifications required by the workplace instructions.
- To avoid any injuries and/or employee discomfort by working and behaving in a safe manner in the workplace.
- Housekeeping - For all equipment that has been used to be returned to its location and for any production mess to be cleaned during and after a hob has finished.
- Adheer to all company policies and procedures.

Pharmaceutical manufacturing environment

**FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Essential**:

- Minimum of NCEA level 1 and completion of year 11 at secondary school

**TRAINING / EXPERIENCE**

**Essential**:

- Previous experience in manufacturing
- Ability to Interpret Production Plans and Manufacturing Orders
- Ability to interpret Quality Specifications and procedures
- Can demonstration written, oral and communication skills in line with the requirements of the role

**Desirable**:

- Operating experience in a plastics extrusion and thermoforming environment
- Can demonstrate a level of mechanical aptitude
- Current Forklift Certificate
- Previous shift work experience
