Security Officer, Auckland Regional Forensic

The Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Service, or the Mason Clinic as it is often known, is the largest Forensic Mental Health Service in New Zealand. We serve Courts and Prisons in the Northern Region which support the population from Bombay Hills to Cape Reinga.
We deliver a comprehensive range of Forensic Mental Health and Intellectual Disability Services, including secure inpatient acute and rehabilitation services which connect to community rehabilitation services, services for offenders with an intellectual disability, cultural specific programmes for Maori, court liaison and prison mental health services. This includes a regional service to Northland Region Corrections Facility at Ngawha and Northland. The Mason Clinic has 126 inpatient beds of which 12 are for offenders with an intellectually disability.
This Security Officer role provides a pivotal service in the daily running of the site so the successful applicant must be able to work with the team to provide a safe, efficient and high quality customer-focused service. The role is non-clinical in nature with mínimal patient contact, and key responsibilities include access control, CCTV monitoring, carpark and site management to prevent or minimise risk or threat to site. The role provides a visible and practical security presence while providing a flexible, high quality service to the Mason Clinic site extending care and consideration to patients, staff and visitors.
The nature of this role is partly responsive/reactive so we're looking for people who work calmly under pressure, able to respond to emergencies and challenging situations that will require prompt and appropriate action in a courteous and respectful manner.
Applicants will be able to operate security equipment and systems, be computer literate, write clear and concise reports and keep detailed records so excellent verbal and written skills are essential.
