**Te** **kōwhiringa | The Opportunity**
Join the Downer Transport & Infrastructure business at our Liddel Street, Invercargill base. You will be trained as a Chipsealing Operator delivering to a schedule of surface strengthening, road widening, safety improvements to full seals

Safely operate, navigate and care for Class 4/5 machinery, cart heavy machinery and aggregates to site. You will learn to spread aggregates and won’t be afraid to lend a helping hand amongst the crew when needed. You will develop as a strong leader with the confidence to communicate and problem solve on the fly.

The area that you will cover during the season stretches across the Otago-South region, this means that you will be required to stay away from home occasionally. During the summer months (peak season) you will be required to work up to six days per week (but rewarded accordingly).

You will be someone who is motivated and holds a strong work ethic - you’ll be part of a busy work schedule where flexibility to flow to peaks and various locations throughout the year is required.

A Class 4 or 5 Licence with WTR is crucial and as you’re working with hazardous materials, it is preferable that you hold your Dangerous Goods licence, but this can be obtained. A keen interest in Road construction/Maintenance, specifically in Chipsealing, and hold appropriate clean licences (Classes 1-5, Wheels and Rollers). Training and support to obtain licenses will be offered.

You’ll also hold:

- A great work ethic - you’ll be part of a busy team and some long hours are required (but you’ll be rewarded accordingly)
- A strong focus on Safety and Quality
- Problem solving skills to solve daily challenges
- Flexibility - some out of town travel and weekend work will be required on occasion A can-do attitude - this is a great opportunity to be trained as a Chipsealing Operator - a highly sought-after skill in New Zealand and abroad
