**About the Role | Mō te Tūranga
We’re looking for a Category Development Manager - Commercial, to lead and work alongside the merchandise trading teams, supporting and facilitating the delivery of commercial buying strategies.

Reporting into the Commercial Manager - Next Gen Buying, you will play a key part in the development and execution of WWNZ’s Next Generation Buying programme to ensure our customer value proposition is supported by effective buying strategies and buying execution.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to be heavily involved in the delivery of commercial performance optimisation across the merchandise department.
- Be part of a buying optimisation team that will improve the buying performance of WWNZ, ensuring the team has the necessary skills and capabilities to deliver measurable value
- Support the Next Generation Buying programme for WWNZ including the delivery of processes and tool kits that sit within this initiative
- Work across merchandise trading teams to support the management of supplier cost price increases, ensuring the necessary tools, tracking and governance processes are adhered to
- Actively support and provide specialist input to support the management of better buying initiatives including category review commercial support, customer value refreshes, and proactive supplier buying engagements
- Participate in and take a visible part in regular commercial forums for the Merchandise leadership team including the weekly customer value meeting, and provide regular transformation and delivery updates to the Merchandise Leadership as required.
- Works end to end and builds strong connections and collaborative relationships across the Merchandise trading and commercial support teams
- Execute initiatives to support the achievement of key Merchandise OKR’s including Better Buying and Cost Price Avoidance targets
- Upskill category teams to ensure they can confidently develop and execute effective buying strategies, are competent in the use of buying tools, and follow the agreed processes and ways of working that will form part of our approach to buying strategy
- Provide support as required to the Head of Next Gen Buying and General Manager Commercial relating to general commercial performance and buying matter

**About You | Mou
Ideally you’ll have demonstrated experience within category management gained within a retail environment. You will be comfortable developing commercial strategies using a range of analytical resources, and as a People Leader you’ll thrive in coaching and mentoring others and have worked across matrixed organisations to formulate and deliver commercial strategies to drive business growth.

The role requires exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills with demonstrated ability to build credibility.
