**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**

Working as a key member of a small and supportive paediatric dietitian team, you will provide dietetic care to paediatric patients (aged 0-16 years), predominantly in the inpatient setting. You will carry a diverse workload which will give the opportunity to work in both general and specialist paediatric areas, including medical and gastro, including eating disorders, and cross cover to surgical and oncology wards. There is also a small outpatient component, yet to be decided but could include general outpatients, cystic fibrosis MDT clinic, and opportunity for other specialty MDT clinics.

The post-holder will be responsible for assessment and management of nutritional requirements of inpatients and outpatients within the Child Health Service. They will also support the wider dietetic team as clinical demand requires and support the ongoing development of the paediatric dietetic service, with opportunities to develop and be involved in speciality MDT teams.

You will be well supported by the district's dietetic team and will also be an integral part of the Child Health Service. This is an exciting time for the Child Health team, with Te Wao Nui (the new Wellington Children’s Hospital) recently completed and now in use. The paediatric dietitians at Capital & Coast are well respected and supported by the wider Child Health team including MDT colleagues, nurse specialists and medical staff.

The role is a full-time, fixed-term position for just over a year, covering parental leave.

We are a group of 18 dietitians who work across inpatient and outpatient settings. We are a highly dedicated and patient-focused team of clinicians. Working with a diverse group of patients with significant health needs, you’ll demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills and have a flexible, problem solving approach. You will have the ability to quickly build strong working relationships with patients, whānau and the wider multidisciplinary team and have excellent time management and prioritisation skills. - Skills and Experience:_
- NZ Registered Dietitian with current APC
- Dietitian Prescriber
- At least two years’ clinical experience, including recent experience in paediatric dietetics
- Ability to manage a complex and diverse clinical caseload
- Ability to build rapport and adapt your communication style to suit a wide variety of patients and their whanau
- Self-motivated and organised
