**What you will be doing**:
While reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the key focus of the role includes analysis of water and environmental samples and provision of technical support to other chemistry laboratories within the Department to meet internal and external customer requirements.

This role gives opportunities of growth and development within New Zealand Steel and could be a steppingstone to move into more senior positions which would see you involved in the operation and management of other laboratories within the Chemistry Department. This is an 8hr days Monday to Friday role however due to the continuous nature of our operations you may be required to work additional hours when needed.

**What you will bring to the role**:
To be considered for this role you must have previous laboratory experience along with strong work ethic and great attention to detail, you will need to have a minimum qualification of NZCS / BSc or similar in chemistry, Chemical engineering, or its equivalent along with the following:

- Proven experience in environmental / analytical laboratory procedures
- Experience in implementing and maintaining 17025 laboratory accreditation and quality systems
- Excellent computer skills particularly the Microsoft Suite
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work both autonomously and in a team
- A current driver’s licence
- An uncompromising approach to health and safety
