**Mō tēnei tūranga - About the role**

Levy comprises over 95% of Fire and Emergency New Zealand’s income. The levy roles are critical in monitoring compliance with Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act and ensuring that liable parties pay levy correctly on their insurance policies. The Levy Auditor will be responsible for conducting and reporting statutory Fire and Emergency New Zealand levy audits. Levy audits are systematically carried out at a selection of Insurance Brokers, Insurance Companies and individual corporations.

The purpose of the Levy Auditor is to work alongside the Levy Team to:

- Determine the adequacy, standard and accuracy of the systems employed by those organisations responsible for the calculation and payment of levy.
- Deal with issues arising from audits quickly and professionally and where appropriate escalate issues to other resources to bring matters to a conclusion
- Complete the necessary documentation, letters and reports in a professional manner
- Provide an opinion as to the levels of compliance with Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017 and to identify and recover any lost levy from non-compliance by performing various substantive tests of auditee’s key accounts.

The salary range for this role is $95,096 - $105,662 depending on your skills and experience.

**Ko tāu nā ki tēnei tūranga - What you’ll bring to the role**

To succeed in this role, you will have:

- A well-grounded finance or accounting background
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge and understanding of Insurance industry and insurance products
- Experience working in a government agency
- Great attention to detail
- Flexibility to travel when required

**Essential**
- Finance and/or accounting background

**Desirable**
- Skills to read insurance policies and schemes and interpret in relation to the provisions of Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act.
- Insurance industry experience
