Food Safety and Quality Technician

The Food Safety and Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and maintaining high-quality standards throughout the production process. This role involves conducting inspections, implementing and monitoring quality control procedures, and documenting all findings. The Food Safety and Quality Technician also assists in the development and revision of food safety programs, conducts product testing, and provides training to employees on proper food handling practices.

Job Summary:
**Responsibilities**:
1. Implement and maintain food safety protocols, including HACCP, GMPs, and SOPs, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
2. Conduct regular inspections of production facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential food safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
3. Perform quality control tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
4. Monitor and document critical control points (CCPs) throughout the production process to prevent potential food safety risks.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve food safety and quality issues, including customer complaints and non-conforming products.
6. Maintain accurate records of all food safety and quality activities, including inspection reports, test results, and corrective actions.
7. Assist in the development and delivery of food safety and quality training programs for employees to enhance their understanding and compliance.
8. Stay updated with the latest food safety regulations, industry trends, and emerging technologies to continuously improve the food safety and quality management system.
9. Participate in external audits and inspections by regulatory agencies or certification bodies, providing necessary documentation and support.
10. Contribute to the continuous improvement of food safety and quality programs by identifying opportunities for efficiency, cost savings, and risk reduction.
Qualifications:
1. Prior experience in food safety and quality management systems, preferably in the food industry.
3. Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and other food safety regulations and standards.
4. Familiarity with quality control testing methods, including microbiological and chemical analysis.
5. Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify and address potential food safety hazards.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve food safety and quality issues.
7. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present findings.
9. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
10. Certification in food safety (e.g., HACCP, SQF, or FSSC 22000) is a plus.
