**The Opportunity**
Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Team has an exciting opportunity for a senior nurse to come and join a specialty service in the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS).
This is a permanent role working full time (1.0FTE).
The CNS in IPC supports MidCentral staff to deliver safe care to our population by minimising the risk of cross infection to our patients, staff and visitors. The CNS role is pivotal in meeting the Health and Disability Services Standard 8134:2021 and hospital certification by maintaining high standards of care through surveillance, education, policy development and review. In addition the staff health programme delivers: staff vaccination programme and contact tracing. The scope is broad and the challenges are huge. There is an opportunity, and you are encouraged, to be actively involved in regional and national groups.
We are seeking a person who has exemplary communication and collaboration skills, a focus on problem solving using analytical skill and quality improvement principles, attention to detail and commitment to providing safe care. You will need to be able to work as part of a small supportive team and across the Clusters.
You will be a registered nurse who:
- Meets Level 4 of the Professional Development Recognition Programme (Level 3 working towards Level 4 will be considered)
- Has completed postgraduate papers, minimum post graduate diploma and preferably a Masters in Nursing
- Is committed to further education in Infection Prevention & Control
- May consider Specialty Clinical Nurse as transition to CNS role
