**About the team**

Our Grid Development division identifies future grid needs to ensure assets are well-maintained and aligned with planned investments in generation and the growing demand for electricity, as outlined in _Whakamana i Te Mauri Hiko - Empowering our Energy Future_.

The Lines Asset Planning team oversees a diverse portfolio of towers, poles, foundations, conductors, earthwires, insulators, and hardware. Responsible for nearly 20,000 circuit kilometres of conductors and over 36,000 structures, the team ensures investments are timely, cost-effective, and aligned with Transpower's strategic goals.

**About the opportunity**

This ten-month parental leave cover, located in Wellington or Christchurch, is ideal for someone with knowledge of, or experience in, asset management or the electricity sector. You'll primarily manage the conductor portfolio while broadening your understanding of other transmission line assets.

Working collaboratively with various teams, both internal and external to Transpower, you'll support the delivery and development of lines asset class management plans. This includes balancing cost and risk, identifying and investigating complex problems, and assisting in the development of standards and sustainable work plans.

The work is interesting and varied, including:

- Contributing to the integration of Asset Management plans for both Capex and Opex over a 15-year horizon.
- Forecasting asset replacement and refurbishment work using models and tools, supported by historical data.
- Supporting the development, review, and calibration of asset health models.
- Using whole-of-life costing principles to develop investment cases for asset replacement and refurbishment.
- Undertaking strategic initiatives and planning/process improvement activities.

You'll provide advice and reporting to a range of stakeholders and contribute to Capex and Opex works plans for business planning and Regulatory Control Period justification.

**What you'll bring**

We'd love to hear from you if you have a background in electricity, asset management, other utilities, or consulting. You may have applied sound asset and risk management principles and completed options analyses and cost-benefit analyses to support investment decisions.

While knowledge of transmission lines or critical infrastructure is advantageous, our team is ready to support your learning in this specialised area.

Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate:

- 1-3 years of asset management experience or equivalent qualifications.
- An understanding of energy sector assets.
- Analytical skills and the ability to work with large datasets.
- Commercial awareness, including financial analysis and risk management.
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills.

Additional knowledge/experience that would be an advantage:

- A relevant degree or asset management qualification.
- Project management experience.
- Knowledge of corrosion management.
