**About the role**

An Airworthiness Inspector is responsible for completing all associated activity necessary to gain assurance that an aircraft meets the required safety standards detailed in the relevant Civil Aviation Rules and for conformity to an approved type design, as applicable, such that it is shown to be eligible for the issue of an airworthiness document.

The Airworthiness Inspector will be involved in all other activities undertaken by the Aircraft Inspection and Registration Team, which includes but is not limited to, assessment and approval of minimum equipment lists; issue of airworthiness directives; review and approval of maintenance programs; assessment and issue of Operator Statements and Identifiable Paint Schemes; and general technical investigations. The Airworthiness Inspector may also be called upon to assist other Teams within the CAA with audit and surveillance and certification activities from time to time as required.

This is a permanent position based at Wellington National Office and the salary range is $108,171-$127,259 (pro-rata) depending on your skills and experience.

**What we are looking for**
- A minimum of five years’ aircraft maintenance or manufacturing support experience or holds an Engineering Diploma (or equivalent) in a relevant aviation discipline with aircraft maintenance or manufacturing support experience.
- An awareness of requirements covering Civil Aviation Rules Parts 21, 39, 43, 91, 145 and Part 148 and/or equivalent foreign regulations.
- An understanding of the maintenance and manufacturing procedures and administrative requirements for airworthiness covering quality assurance, technical services, planning, production, maintenance and inventory control. Understands the management functions in co-coordinating these functions.
- Mental agility and able to work independently
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- An ability to travel both domestically and internationally if required
- NZ registered quality systems auditor or have experience with aviation management systems (SMS, quality, risk management).
- Experience in compliance verification of aircraft related activities, safety management systems, quality systems and risk management systems
- Experience in conformity inspection of aircraft and aircraft parts.
- An understanding of ICAO/international standards and recommended practices for civil aviation
- Holds, or has held an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License and some Type Ratings
- Completion of a formal course in aircraft accident investigation
