What sounds better than getting paid to work at the pool over the summer months?
Our 5 outdoor community pools are open from November 2024 through to early April 2025. As a Summer Lifeguard, you will help ensure that our customers have an enjoyable and safe experience at our pools over the busy summer period. We'll train you to earn your National Pool Lifeguard Qualification & first aid certificate and make sure you have a great time doing it.

All CCC Lifeguards can work across our network of facilities in Ōtautahi. Our Summer Lifeguards often become permanent employees after the summer period and work with us for years to come.
**About you | Ko Koe Tēnei**
To be successful, you will:
- Work well in a collaborative team environment
- Be proactive, professional and enthusiastic
- Have great attention to detail
- Be able to pass a swim test (further details below)
- Be responsible, reliable and have good communication skills
**Important parts of the process**:
- In order to be considered to progress to the next stage, you must be able to pass this swim test. Our friendly team will give you tips at your swim test, so come and give it a go
**Key dates**:
- If successful after the assessment centre, you will be required to undertake 2 full days of Lifeguard Training with a follow-up assessment to gain your Pool Lifeguard Qualification, at Taiora QEII. The cost of these courses is covered by Christchurch City Council. Training and assessment dates are below (you will be invited to one of these 3 sessions);
- 1. Lifeguard training 30/09/24 & 01/10/24, Assessment 07/10/24._
- 2. Lifeguard training 03/10/24 & 04/10/24, Assessment 11/10/24._
- 3. Lifeguard training 08/10/24 & 09/10/24, Assessment 16/10/24._
If you already hold a PLPC you will not need to attend the Lifeguard assessment day.
**Additional Information | Ko ētahi atu kōrero**:
- Salary: $27.80 per hour, we pay the current NZ living wage
- Hours of work: Full-time and part-time hours available, across 7 days. Fixed-term from early November 2024 - early April 2025.
- Locations of work: Jellie Park, Te Hapua Halswell, Waltham, Norman Kirk Lyttelton, Taiora QEII, Graham Condon, Pioneer, Matatiki - Hornby & Te Pou ToeToe - Linwood.
- Flexibility to work at all pools if required is desirable._
