Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join us. Reporting to the Group Accounting Manager you'll provide accurate and timely financial information that is included in reporting to key stakeholders, and you'll work closely with the learn about, and drive process improvement, strong internal controls and robust financial reporting.
Whilst your day to day is transactional, working on cashbooks, reconciliations and month end journals, you'll also have the opportunity to get involved in supporting senior team members with their portfolios and process improvement project work as well.
This role offers a lot of variety and the ability to really solidify your accounting fundamental knowledge, giving you a great opportunity to grow and develop your accounting career within a large finance team.
This role is based in Wellington and will work Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week. All our roles undergo a remuneration grading process and have an approved salary band. This role has a base salary ranging from $65,000-$75,000 and a 4% KiwiSaver match. Appointment salary and position in salary band range will depend on the skills, experience and capability of the successful applicant.

Mōu - About you
With a head for numbers and a heart of learning and growing your career, you'll come with a couple of years practical experience where you've gained a solid understanding of accepted accounting practices, knowing the difference between a debit from a credit and balance sheet from a profit and loss statement.
Most importantly though you'll bring
- A relevant tertiary qualification in finance
- At least 1-2 years of work experience in a finance based role
- A willingness to learn
- The ability to navigate around and use Excel
- Strong interpersonal skills and a team player attitude
- Impeccable attention to detail
