Ko te tūāpapa o Ātea a Rangi ko te mātauranga Māori, ko te reo Māori me ōna tikanga Māori kia puta atu ki te whaiao, ki te ao mārama. Tatū atu rā ki te ao hurihuri.
Ātea a Rangi is the multi-disciplinary business group led by the Pou Whakatere, Deputy Secretary Māori, which focuses on supporting the Ministry of Justice to deliver improved justice outcomes for Māori.
Ātea a Rangi is the Ministry's te ao Māori policy, capability, and relationships rōpū. Ātea a Rangi has a role in supporting the Ministry to improve its capability in te ao me mātauranga Māori, in order to conceive, design and implement effective interventions to make a difference for Māori and all New Zealanders. This is a chance to use your advisory experience, machinery of government knowledge, and commitment to Māori aspirations and wellbeing to contribute to a busy work programme.

He kōrero mō ngā tūranga nei | About the roles
Senior Advisors and Advisors will contribute to developing and maintaining effective, enduring and meaningful relationships between the Ministry of Justice and with iwi Māori, to ensure that the Ministry delivers on its Te Tiriti obligations, partners with iwi Māori to deliver services, and improves justice outcomes for whānau, hapū and iwi.
- A tertiary degree in a relevant field is preferable, also keen to hear from those of you who have equivalent life experience
- Competency in Te Reo Māori and tikanga Māori and a demonstrable willingness to share and learn
- The ability to articulate perspectives around te ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Experience engaging with iwi and Māori organisations, whānau, hapū and iwi
- Providing written reports and presentation to a high standard, including high levels of accuracy
- Strong relationship management skills

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The appointing salaries for these roles will be between $107,540 and $139,211 (for the Senior Advisor roles) and between $81,128 and $104,720 (for the Advisor roles) based on skills and experience.
