The Te Ahu a Turanga: Manawatū Tararua Highway Alliance is a major undertaking in the Manawatū region, to replace the 2017 slip damaged Manawatū Gorge. Once complete, the project will provide a much-needed link through the ranges, and will mean travelling through the area will be much safer. Consisting of 11.5km of new 4-lane road, 6 million cubic metres of earthworks, and 6 bridges, the project will provide employment opportunities in the region over the life of the project through to 2024.
The Te Ahu a Turanga Alliance consists of Waka Kotahi - NZTA, Local Iwi, Fulton Hogan, HEB Construction, Aurecon, and WSP.

You have worked on a wide variety of civil projects and you are keen to join our team and continue developing your career. With a strong working knowledge of engineering surveying, you are open to using the latest surveying technology including 3D machine control and robotics. You’ll be enhancing your skillset and using 3D laser scanners and the latest Leica survey equipment, Trimble Total Stations and GPS.
Be an integral part of our team and enjoy liaising closely with internal customers and external contractors, designers and machine operators. You’ll provide day to day practical survey solutions, create designs on bespoke software, complete data processing and asbuilt reporting, ensuring precision set out for our project in accordance with project guidelines. This is a hands on role with a good combination of field based work and data processing. You’ll be part of a great supportive team.
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in Surveying and experience in Civil Engineering Construction
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar level role
- The ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels
- Excellent communication and experience dealing with both clients and the general public
- Preferred software expertise in Civil 3D or 12D and Trimble Business Centre
- Understanding and experience with 3D machine control is highly desirable
- Ability to Maintain and verify the survey control network in accordance with the project requirements
- Management of survey data and contributing to drawing asbuilts and accurate monthly quantity measures
- A Full, clean NZ Class 1 Driving Licence
- Ability to meet deadlines
