We supply electricity, natural gas and LPG, and generate around 20% of New Zealand's electricity from thermal and renewable power stations. Genesis is on a transformational journey to reimagine energy, so that our customers come to see us as their first choice for energy management. Our portfolio of thermal and renewable generation sites across the country are significant assets to Genesis, and as such, we need to ensure we meet and exceed our environmental obligations, both today and in the future.

Huntly Power Station (HPS) is a significant and critically important component of New Zealand's electricity supply system. In particular, this is due to its size, proximity to the Auckland load centre, unique ability to stockpile fuel on site, utilise gas and/or coal and ability to provide security of energy supply during dry years, peak periods or when other weather-dependant generation is unable to meet consumer demand. The continued operation of the HPS supports and complements New Zealand's renewable electricity generation.

**About the role**:
We have a unique and diverse opportunity for a keen industrial chemist to lead the small, close-knit HPS Chemistry Team. The Chemistry Team is responsible for providing responsive, efficient, and cost-effective technical support service to ensure the Station's various, chemistry, water production and associated equipment are managed in a way to ensure a high standard of plant reliability.

**Responsibilities**:
This role is site-based, and core responsibilities include:

- Chemical investigation, sampling, and analysis for the elimination of chemistry related plant failure and outages.
- Oversee the in-house laboratory including carrying out regular sampling and analysis of water, oil, and coal along with calibration of the instruments and general upkeep of the facility and consumables.
