Te Maioha o Parekarangi is a 24/7 secure residential facility, working with young males aged 13-17 years who have offended, and are on remand, or sentenced via the Youth Court. Our ultimate goal is to help every tamaiti we work with to realise their potential. We assist our tamariki with transition into education, training, or employment, and to a safe and stable living arrangement when they leave our care.
We are seeking a Trades Support/Handyperson to join our Support Services Team. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8.00 am - 4.30 pm).
Mō te tūnga | About the role
In this busy and varied role, you will support health, safety, security and daily operations of the residence by providing a high-quality and responsive buildings, grounds, property, plant, vehicle and resource support service. This will include booking in and escorting specialist trade contractors whilst on site; maintaining a safe and damage-free environment with daily checks completed, data analysed, and reports prepared; carrying out allocated minor work to keep the site safe and tidy; and identifying and escalating Property risks and issues.

**Key requirements of the role include**:
- An understanding of health, safety and security
- Resilience, reliability, honesty and common-sense
- An ability to communicate professionally with a wide range of staff and stakeholders
- To be flexible and adaptable in your work practices
- Good computer literacy (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- A full clean New Zealand drivers' licence
- To meet the Vulnerable Children's Act safety checking and Ministry vetting requirements (this includes a full Police Check)
- To be fit and healthy - able to work outside and stand for most of the day if required (when escorting contractors and completing routine maintenance and grounds work)
- Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture

Annual remuneration for this position starts between $49,1952 and $51,876, dependent on experience.
