Our client is looking for a Project Engineer to join their team. The position of Project Engineer is accountable for managing a key project components through labour, plant, materials and subcontractors to ensure zero harm, quality, on-time delivery, customer satisfaction and profitability. This position will be directing the performance of work, resources and activities on site and has supervisory accountability for team, crew and subcontractors.

This position will require working the Central North Island of New Zealand on one of this country's most iconic highways.

Key Deliverables
- Lead by example and ensure safety culture and the consistent adoption of safe work procedures.
- Develop, review and manage project plans encompassing all elements of project delivery including WH&S, Quality & Environment with Project Engineer.
- Proactive leadership and management of safety performance, standards and risk.
- Quality management on day to day basis, development of quality procedures according to the specifications of the project and New Zealand standards, implementation on site, design review and update.
- Provide technical advice with problem-solving skills.
- Take initiative, sense of urgency and analysis.
- Establish and maintain project cost control, inclusive of a focus on labour utilization and efficiency.
- Build effective relationships with clients and manage day to day interactions.
- Willingness to work away from home.

Skills & Experience:

- Degree in Civil Engineering/Construction preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil engineering.
- Experience within bridges and/or structural steel erection.
- Experience in balance cantilever bridge construction methods, including experience in form traveller erection and operation essential.
- Experience in post tensioning essential.
- Experience in planning, scoping and successful delivery of projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent understanding WH&S, environmental and quality to ensure compliant to project KPIs.
- Strong oral and written communication skills including report writing and development of proposals.
- Cost control, forecasting & planning.
