**Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role**:
The Learning Support Advisor provides effective, efficient and equitable learning support for students who cannot readily access the curriculum in accordance with the goals, objectives and policies of the Ministry of Education.
- Technical/professional knowledge and skills - having achieved a satisfactory level of technical and professional skill or knowledge in position - related areas, keeping up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise.
- Building Strategic Working Relationships - developing and using collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.

To be successful in the role, you will have proven experience and outcomes in Learning Support. Additional qualifications in Learning Support would be an advantage.

**Mātau rōpū ake | About our group and team**:
Learning Support is a critical part of the Sector Enablement and Support Group in the Ministry. We are charged with leading the education sector in ensuring that children and young people with additional learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential through education. Across our takiwā, we provide leadership and guidance to deliver education service for school/kura, early learning services, whānau and ākonga, and our local communities.

We also collectively strengthen relationships with our diverse communities who support Māori, Pacific peoples, ākonga with learning support needs, and ākonga from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Our regional Directors of Education have the lead role and relationship with early learning, kōhanga, school/kura, and this means they will be across all the services we provide at a local and regional level.

Our mahi is also supported by the Pou Ārahi who support the takiwā and the wider Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga to give practical effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to lift cultural capability.

The Office of the Hautū provides operational and system support that enables the Hautū and the leadership team to lead large operational business as well as supporting them to undertake their leadership of wider Te Mahau business.
