As a visible role within the community, you will actively engage and collaborate with local iwi, service providers, community groups, and agencies to ensure accurate information is being communicated to families and the court where applicable, as well as understanding the availability and suitability of their services and resources.

A key aspect of the Kaiarahi role will be relationship building between these communities and the Justice system, bringing your knowledge of the Family Court and Judicial Services processes to the conversation to work with participants and the court to facilitate access to justice.

While these positions are based in the Whangarei District Court, you will also be required to travel in and out of the community on a regular basis. This is not your standard 9-5 role, and from time to time you will need to be able to work weekends and outside normal work hours, to meet the needs of our communities. Travel across your region will also be required to ensure all communities across Aotearoa are receiving consistent, quality support.

A full driver's licence is also required.

This position is operating at a community leadership level, so the ability to be self-managed and work both independently and with your regional team is key. We are also looking for someone who has the ability work fairly independently as well as part of a team, and brings in a good level of creativity and innovation to our space.

Key skills and experience include:

- Excellent relationship management skills
- A high level of comfort working with Whanau, Hapu and Iwi
- Have an understanding and appreciation of cultural issues and concerns in particular Tikanga Maori
- Technical knowledge and experience in Family and District Courts would be highly advantageous
