Te Mahi/About the Position

Part time - 0.8 FTE

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Stomal Therapist or Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. As a Stomal Therapist, you will be responsible for providing care to patients who are having surgery that requires the creation of a stoma. You will work closely with other healthcare professionals, to ensure that patients receive the best possible care and support.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assess patient's needs and develop individualised care plans,
- Provide education and support to patients and their whanau and other care providers,
- Manage and monitor stoma-related complications, including skin irritations and infections,
- Advise patients on stoma care products and equipment,
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including surgeons, nurses, G. Ps, rest home staff and dietitians,
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient's care

To be successful in this role you will have:

- A degree in nursing or equivalent
- Certification as a Stomal Therapist or the willingness to work towards the certificate
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Compassionate and patient-centred approach to care
