As a proactive and positive Yard Person you'll enjoy keeping our workshop and yards looking great, ensuring our plant, equipment and vehicle fleet are well maintained and delivered on time to our hard working site teams. You'll also be able to under take in-house concrete duct manufacturing / fabrication / de-fabrication (training can be provided) and help out our site teams in times of need.

**Role purpose:
- Keep workshop and yards tidy, organised and appropriately stocked
- Ensure plant, equipment and vehicle fleet are maintained and provided to site teams
- Undertake in-house concrete duct manufacturing / fabrication / de-fabrication (training can be provided)
- Provide other adhoc support as required by Construction Manager and Plant Manager

**Key accountabilities:
**1. Keep workshop and yards tidy, organised and appropriately stocked**:

- Ensure plant and equipment returned from site is stored appropriately, securely, and readily available
- Inspect and report any issues, defects or maintenance requirements for plant and equipment to the Plant Manager
- Liaise with staff to load and unload plant and equipment

**2. Vehicles, plant and equipment**:

- Ensure vehicles, plant and equipment is clean and presentable with current service, registration and WOF/COF
- Conduct basic plant and equipment checks and maintenance as required by the Plant Manager
- Ensure oils, lubricants, solvents etc. are appropriately stored and sufficiently stocked
- Ensure Plant Manager is notified of any plant and equipment calibration, maintenance or repairs required
- Delivery/collection of vehicles to mechanics/workshops for WOF, maintenance, etc
- Delivery/collection of plant and equipment to and from work sites

**3. In-house manufacturing / fabrication / de-fabrication**:

- Manufacture concrete ducts for our construction sites (training will be provided if necessary and includes preparing the concrete mold, facilitating concrete supplier pour, and extracting completed mold)
- Formwork/shutter fabrication/de-fabrication

**5. Quality accountabilities**:

- Positively promote the company in all aspects of the role including client/stakeholder interaction and communication
- Deliver plant in a timely manner to construction sites/maintenance and repair agencies

**6. Health and safety accountabilities**:

- Advise H&S Manager of any notifiable events within the workplace as soon as reasonably practicable
- Accurately report and record of all accidents, incidents & near-misses to H&S Manager within 24hrs
- Promote and lead Health & Safety by example
- Participate in the development and education of JSEA, Daily Pre-start, Hazard ID, Toolbox related to your area of work
- Manage workplace safety to ensure your actions or inactions do not affect the safety of others

**7. Environmental accountabilities**:
Promote and comply with Connell Contractors company environmental policy
- Monitor and minimise noise generation
- Minimise site water usage as much as possible, recycle water where possible to avoid wastage
- Manage material wastage onsite - re-use and recycle to minimise disposal where practical
- Offsite Waste disposal
- Separate green waste to dispose at environmental landfill
- Non-recyclable material to dump
- Any contaminated waste to approved landfill e.g. asbestos material, fuel, oil
- Check maintenance of plant and equipment and motor vehicles on site is up to date to avoid any fuel/oil seepages into the environment.

**8. Other duties to support Construction Manager (as required from time to time)**:

- Assisting on construction sites (general hand work)

**Attributes**:

- Positively receive and carry out instructions
- Demonstrate a high level of competency, accuracy and quality while maintaining a safe environment for work being undertaken
- Hold good basic mechanical knowledge
- Currently hold, or able to obtain a class 4 licence
- Currently hold or able to obtain OSH forklift training and F endorsement
- Currently hold or able to obtain W,T,R endorsements
- Well organised, able to work without supervision and meet deadlines in order to maintain profitable outcomes
- Demonstrate good knowledge and understanding of health and safety
- Excellent communication skills - promotes the company in all aspects of their role, demonstrating professional skill and a high standard of integrity to clients/stakeholders
