We are looking for a person to join the Inshore Fisheries Team within Fisheries New Zealand as a Fisheries Analyst. The role is a permanent position based out of our centrally located Wellington office.
Within the role you will be working with a range of technical experts and stakeholders to monitor and advance national and regional fisheries management initiatives. This work aims to improve fisheries management frameworks and sustainably manage the use of New Zealand's fisheries resources.
You will have the opportunity to work alongside a team of passionate individuals across New Zealand committed to ensuring sustainable fisheries resources for future generations.
We are interested in a person with an undergraduate qualification or higher. Preferred areas of study include marine science, resource management, law, policy, or economics (but this is not a necessity).
Mōu - About You

You will be someone with a genuine interest in the sea, oceans and fisheries who also has;
- Analytical skills and the capacity to quickly identify and clearly define an issue
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, listening, and written)
- Understanding of Government processes including Parliamentary processes
- Experience establishing and effectively maintaining collaborative relationships with tangata whenua, stakeholders, and Government agencies
- Knowledge of fisheries management and regulatory frameworks
