Working within the Parks tree team, this pivotal role is responsible for delivering services related to trees in some of our most high-profile parks, including the Christchurch Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park. Responsibilities include ensuring service levels meet safety, enjoyment, and park use standards. As the face of Council tree management, you will act as the Service Manager's Representative for the protection of tree assets.

Maintaining a current working knowledge of all laws and regulations related to arboriculture is crucial, as you will be called upon for expert technical advice and to make recommendations for decisions related to tree assets. Provide excellent customer service to residents, Council staff, and stakeholders alike. Effective communication skills and the ability to build professional relationships are also must-haves. You will present at Community Board meetings to elected members and the public, providing prompt and accurate responses.

With a high level of autonomy, you'll exercise your attention to detail and organizational skills. It's essential that you know how to connect on various levels, from field operations to governance, as you'll be liaising with various stakeholders. We require a relevant tertiary qualification, significant experience in tree management, and a full current driver's license.

**Additional information**:
Hours of work: Full-time, fixed-term for 3 years.

**Salary**: The salary band for this position goes from $79,701 - $94,461.
