Our Investment Management System Team is the kaitiaki of New Zealand's Public Service Investment Management System - ensuring it delivers value and intergenerational wellbeing through:
- Enabling well-informed investment decisions,
- Ensuring the system is efficient, effective and sustainable,
- Enabling those with accountabilities across the system to perform their roles effectively.
The team has responsibility for the Better Business Case and Gateway assurance frameworks, including the coordination of Gateway reviews for agencies. The team also provides reporting and advice to Ministers on the Government's investment portfolio and leads on elements of the Budget process.
Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role
In this role we're looking for an enthusiastic and talented professional to join us in a key role in the centre of the Investment Management System. This role will lead the development of the Investment Management System's Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reporting of the Government's investment portfolio. This includes:
- Integration of analytics from reporting into impactful Ministerial advice,
- Lead engagement with agencies on Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reporting,
- Lead the presentation of the Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reporting with stakeholders, including Ministers, and
- Support the evolution of Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reporting from excel to online tools.
Ō pūmanawa | About You
You will have previous policy, data and reporting experience, preferably in the New Zealand public sector context and be able to integrate analytics into impactful Ministerial advice. The Investment Management System team's work is dynamic and can be fast paced at times; you will need to be flexible and be able to work under pressure to deliver quality advice. Specific technical expertise you will bring include:
- Five years' experience; preferably with experience in policy, data collection, analysis and integration of analytics into impactful advice,
- Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to translate analysis into outputs which are easily interpreted by a variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders,
- Well-developed policy, numerical literacy, critical thinking and data skills,
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerBI. Proficiency in R would be desirable but not essential,
- Understanding of the New Zealand public sector and the investment management system, including the budget process (desirable but not essential).
