The Team
The
Department of Anaesthesia is a large department which provides acute and
planned anaesthesia services in Christchurch across two main campuses,
Christchurch Public and Burwood Hospital. Surgical services are provided
for all the main surgical specialities including Cardiothoracic, Vascular,
Neurosurgery, Trauma, Paediatric/Neonatal surgery and Obstetrics and
Gynaecology. Tertiary services provided for patients from outside
Canterbury include Acute Spine, Oncological surgery and endovascular clot
retrieval.
The
department is accredited for training by ANZCA and has a large number of
trainees.
The Role
We
are seeking a Specialist Anaesthetist with an interest in Cardiothoracic
Anaesthesia based at Christchurch Hospital. This is a permanent full-time
position which includes participation in an out-of-hours on-call cardiac
anaesthetic roster Full time is 28 half day sessions per four week cycle, plus
non-clinical provision and on-call hours.
Post
fellowship experience in Cardiothoracic anaesthesia is required. You will also
be expected to manage a broad range of clinical anaesthetic work, excluding
Obstetrics.
Te
Whatu Ora Waitaha services an immediate population of 350,000 and is a tertiary
referral centre for the South Island of New Zealand. Cardiac Surgical Services
are provided for a full range of adult operative and interventional procedures
excluding transplant surgery.
Applicants
for Specialist positions must have a qualification recognised for vocational
registration by the Medical Council of New Zealand.
