Mō te tūnga | About the role

The New Zealand Police Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has a vacancy for a Data Analysts based at Police National Headquarters.

The FIU receives information from across the financial sector, with millions of lines of data incoming per annum. We integrate our data with other data sources to create a rich intelligence picture. We support investigations and strategic analysis across Police, government agencies and international law enforcement. We contribute to anti-money laundering efforts, the disruption of terrorist financing, and the dismantling of organised and transnational criminal groups.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Follow good practice and standards on data analysis and visualisation.
- Develop fit for purpose data tools to support the FIU and their clients.
- Identify business needs and opportunities for continuous improvement and provide solutions.
- Ensure effective channels of communication with colleagues and clients.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the team to achieve team goals.

**Skills and experience we are looking for include**:

- Data analysis and visualisation skills - including the use of DataRobot, Qlik, T-SQL and other analytical platforms (R and Python).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to translate and deliver on client requirements.
- A team player who works well in an agile, collaborative environment.
- Tertiary degree-level qualification in data or computer science, finance, statistics, mathematics, operations research, economics or related field, or equivalent experience

- Applicants must reside within the Wellington area or be willing to relocate.
- The preferred applicant will be required to undergo Vetting, Reference and Drug/Alcohol testing before an offer of employment is made.
- Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $91,401 and $105,687 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
