Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Capital and Coast is expanding its High Risk Foot service team to meet the increasing demand within the Capital Coast region. We are seeking experienced podiatrists with the skills and knowledge to provide evidence based best practice for the assessment and treatment of the management of complex high risk foot wounds and foot complications.
The podiatrist will work within a small team of podiatrists to provide assessment and treatment of active high risk foot wounds in both outpatient clinics and inpatient settings across the three CCDHB sites - Kenepuru Hospital, Kapiti Health Centre and Wellington Regional Hospital. The caseload will include active foot wounds and foot conditions, primarily from diabetes and vascular complications.
The High risk foot podiatry team are key members of the Diabetic foot vascular MDT team, and co-ordinate the clinic working alongside vascular surgeons, vascular nurse specialist, diabetes consultants, wound specialist nurses, microbiologists and orthotists to improve patient outcomes and reduce amputation rates within the diabetic foot population. The team also liaises closely with the community diabetes podiatry team to create greater patient outcomes across the region and working together to reduce hospitalisations.

The Podiatry team sits within the Outpatient Hand therapy, Physiotherapy and Podiatry team within ORA (Older Adults, Rehabilitation & Allied Health) Services.. Our team aims to deliver excellence as part of a team of highly skilled, highly motivated and supportive outpatient clinicians. We offer opportunities for professonal development, supervision and mentoring, and being part of research opportunities.

The wider outpatient physiotherapy team includes physiotherapists working in haemophilia, hand therapy, pelvic health, and respiratory physiotherapy, alongside musculoskeletal. We have also recently included the DHB podiatry service into our team. We are a highly skilled, highly experienced and motivated team. We are forward thinking and proactive around the development of our services and roles and aim to make our work as enjoyable and effective for ourselves and our consumers, as possible.
Moū - About you
- 3 years of clinical experience preferred ( new and recent graduates are encouraged to apply
- appropriate support and mentoring to develop skills and experience will be provided)
- Experience in a high risk foot setting with skills in wound care and assessment of the high risk foot ( desirable)
- Podiatry Board of NZ registered with current Annual practicing certificate
- NZ citizen, permanent resident, current working visa
- Membership Wounds society of NZ and NZSSD ( desirable)
- Experience in multi-disciplinary setting ( desirable)
- Strong communication skills
- Team player
