**Pathologist Assistant**

**Anatomic Pathology - Christchurch**

We are seeking a qualified Pathologists’ Assistant with experience in complex tissue
dissection to join our Anatomical Pathology team located in Christchurch New Zealand.
Canterbury SCL is part Southern Community Laboratories a division of APHG that has
provided doctors and patients in New Zealand with pathology services since 1960. We are
the largest provider of pathology services in New Zealand and have laboratories throughout
the country.

The Christchurch Histology laboratory was built 12 years ago and provides services to private
hospitals and general practices in the greater Canterbury region. Our Anatomical Pathology
department processes over 50,000 surgical specimens each year.
The role of Pathologist Assistant involves sample preparation, gross description, dissection of surgical specimens and preparation of tissues for histological processing.

**To be successful in this role you will need**:

- To hold American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) board certification as

Pathologists’ Assistant or equivalent
- To be a registered scientist or technician with the New Zealand Medical Sciences

Council
- A team focus with initiative, excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- The ability to work in a busy, fast paced, deadline-oriented environment
- Experience in dissection training

This position is Permanent Full Time position, 40hrs a week.

Christchurch is known as the garden city, situated on the seaward side on the Canterbury
plains. The plains themselves and the backdrop of the magnificent Southern Alps leave the
city with an unrivalled outdoor playground on its doorstep, mountain biking, tramping and
skiing are all close at hand.
