AUT Refugee Education Centre requires a learning support assistant to work across a range of age groups and learning sections, assisting in classrooms with either adult or mainstream education (school-age) learners.

We are seeking compassionate and skilled Learning Support Assistants to join AUT's Refugee Education Centre. This rewarding role focuses on providing tailored learning support to newly arrived former refugee students who are English language learners. You will work collaboratively with classroom teachers to foster an inclusive, supportive, and effective learning environment that meets diverse learner needs.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Support classroom activities and implement teaching programs to enhance student engagement.
- Build trust and respectful relationships with students, offering consistent feedback to support their learning journey.
- Participate in creative, hands-on learning activities like drama, music, and art, scheduled twice weekly.
- Support learners with special and high needs under the supervision of the Special Needs Coordinator.
- Handle administrative tasks and assist in organizing resources as directed by teachers.

**What We're Looking For**:

- ** Qualifications**: Teacher Aide Certificate, first aid certification, and ideally ESOL/EAL qualifications.
- ** Experience**: Background in supporting refugee or English as a Second Language (ESL) learners and familiarity with inclusive education principles.
- ** Skills**: Strong intercultural communication, organizational skills, and adaptability. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural setting with warmth, empathy, and integrity.

These part-time roles involve working a 4-day week (FTE 0.8).

Interested applicants should also be able to work in adult and teenage/children's learning environments.

**Salary Range**: $56,500 - $75,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications) - pro rata
