Do you have a positive/can do outlook, a genuine interest and previous experience working with clients with substance use issues? Then come and join our collaborative and friendly team at the Specialist Addiction Service (SAS), based in the Community Mental health team on the Frankton Hospital grounds in Frankton, Queenstown. Whilst this position is based at Lakes Hospital, there may be a requirement for you to work out of Dunstan Hospital should the need arise from time to time. This position covers the central Otago area with clinics across the region including Roxburgh, Alexandra, Cromwell and (at times) Wanaka.

**About the Role**

As part of this dedicated team you’ll have your own small case load of clients on Opioid Substitution Treatment (OST) meaning your days will be busy and varied. You will also provide 1-1 assessment and counselling for clients with other substance use problems. You’ll have regular contact with other DHB Health Services, and NGO’s, so you must be an excellent communicator who is adept at interacting with your clients, colleagues and external organisations, always striving to ensure the best results. This position some involves driving to the various towns in the district, providing clinics in shared community facilities.

This role includes being part of the local Community Mental Health Team on call roster approximately two evenings per week and sometimes weekends on call. The person accepted for this position will work towards becoming Duly Authorised Officer administering the Mental Health Act.

**About You**

You will bring to this role a solid understanding of addiction issues and experience in working with clients with co-existing-problems (CEP) and you’ll be able to demonstrate strength in screening, assessment, brief intervention, and clear decision making skills. Desirable skills and experience relate to mental health and physical health assessment.

You will be a Registered Mental Health Professional (Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, or DAPAANZ registered clinician. It is desirable that you hold relevant post graduate qualifications. You will also require a full NZ drivers licence.
