**He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role**

As a Peer Support Worker, you will draw from your own lived experience to empathise and inspire Whānau. This role is a very exciting and important opportunity to support people in times of crisis through utilising your own lived experience of mental health and/or addictions. We support Whānau by practicing recovery and peer support principles such as hope, meaningful roles, connection, worldview, and mutual responsibility.

**Duties of the role could include, not limited to**:

- Demonstrate understanding of Peer Support models of practice to ensure safe practice.
- Provide day to day support in alignment with tangata whaiora goals and support plans including risk management plans and Safety Plans
- Monitor levels of wellbeing and ensure that any concerns/incidents or accidents are reported and documented appropriately.
- Celebrate the successes of people in achieving their recovery and wellbeing.
- Build trusting and engaging relationships with tangata whaiora and their whanau as appropriate.

**He kōrero mōu | About You**

We are looking for someone who is positive, flexible, vibrant, confident, and compassionate to work in our service. You will use your experiences and journey of your own lived experience to connect and kōrero with Whānau who require support.
- NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Level 4 or be able to demonstrate your current plans to achieve this mandatory requirement.
- Bring personal experience of mental distress and/or addiction challenges and can share your journey of taking control of your own wellbeing and the insights and personal awareness you built.
- Demonstrate a proven ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, especially Māori and Pasifika communities.
- Be a positive and encouraging person with a good sense of humor, and the ability to role model how to move forward in a journey to wellbeing.
- Have a willingness to undertake training, and effective time management skills to manage competing demands and deadlines.
- Computer savvy and comfortable using multiple systems including Excel and Microsoft Office.
- The right to live and work in Aotearoa.
