Orthopaedics is a busy service that provides both acute and planned care to the population of Canterbury and the wider region.
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Orthopaedic Sarcoma Coordinator /Clinical Administrator to join our team. This role can be based at Christchurch or Burwood Hospital.
As an Orthopaedic Sarcoma Coordinator / Clinical Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in managing the booking processes for outpatient clinic appointments, elective outpatient/inpatient admissions and provide administration / coordination support to the Health NZ Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury MDM and goals of the Southern Cancer Network Programme.
You will work closely with Consultants, Team Leader, Service Manager, and Clinical Director/Triaging Clinician to ensure patients receive timely treatment within established guidelines.
As part of the Administration and Clerical Pay Equity Claim settlement this role has been mapped to National Band 5 /Profile 5C.

**Key Responsibilities include**:
- Transcription duties
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, clinicians, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Standardize processes using the SI PICS system and Waitaha Canterbury Elective Services Guidelines.
- Prioritize patient bookings based on need and planned care requirements.
- Manage surgical list utilization as agreed with surgeons and service managers.
- Outpatient clinic bookings.
- Coding and date entry of relevant patient information.
- Arrange and coordinate Orthopaedic MDM and work with the MDM Chairperson to ensure they are run in accordance with the MDM terms of reference.
- Process Orthopaedic Sarcoma referrals.
- Actively collaborate and network with MDM co-ordinators across the South Island.

**Essential**:
- Possess excellent communication skills and ability to engage at an advanced level.
- Demonstrated data entry skills and experience.
- Excellent customer service skills - people focused
- Accurate dictaphone typist skills and ability to understand medical terminology.
- Excellent organisational, time management and problem solving skills with a willingness to undertake training.
- Ability to achieve accuracy and maintain attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work unsupervised.
- A team player.
- Intermediate to advanced user in the Microsoft suite of products e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel.
- Excellent keyboard skills.
- High level of written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated perceptiveness and a proactive approach in an administrator role.
**Desired**:
- Demonstrated experience working in a demanding environment with clinical teams and or MDM environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of information systems used in the health sector.
- Demonstrated experience in data collection and collation.
- Experience of hospital systems including SIPICS, HCS preferred.
- Experience working in the cancer sector and understanding about Faster Cancer treatment program.
- Broad administrative experience in a health-related field
- Awareness of people of differing cultural backgrounds.
- Commitment to standards of excellence and service improvement.
- Demonstrated experience organising, coordinating and facilitating meeting including knowledge on audio-visual and video conference technology.
