Te Taurapa Tūhono | New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is the government agency charged with helping New Zealand businesses to grow internationally. Spanning our offices in Guangzhou and Hong Kong, this is a pivotal leadership role that is focused on helping New Zealand companies to grow in the dynamic and fast-changing economies of Southern China and Hong Kong.

What you'll be doing - Te whakamahere
This is an exciting new opportunity leading two offices within the Greater China region. This position will lead a team of four Business Development Managers across Guangzhou and Hong Kong, working closely and collaboratively with our NZ based Customer team to achieve growth of NZ exports. You will report into the Regional Director Greater China, and you will be a member of the regional leadership team and role model across the region.

You will be leading a diverse experienced team whose networks and knowledge are vital to achieving good outcomes for New Zealand companies. You will represent New Zealand at key business events including with leading businesses in the region and in support of Ministers' visits. You will play an important role in implementing NZTE's strategic priorities in southern China & Hong Kong and across the Greater China region, whilst working closely with NZ Inc colleagues.

**Please note**: You will have regular travel commitments across mainland China's southern provinces and to Hong Kong.

What you'll need to be successful - Ō Pūkenga
You have had a successful international career, most likely including experience in mainland China or Hong Kong. In your past roles, you have been responsible for business development, marketing, sales or strategy and understand the fast-paced change of mainland China's and Hong Kong's commercial environments, including the impact of e-commerce and other trends.

You will have exceptional relationship and influencing skills and are a confident and credible communicator. You can demonstrate your leadership track record and commitment to growing yourself and your team. You will also need to be someone who thrives in a business environment of complexity and change and is excited to be part of the fast-changing region.

You'll need to be self-motivated, have great organisational skills, as this role entails working across multiple sectors and frequent travel. Cantonese and Mandarin language skills are preferred but if these languages are new to you, NZTE will support your commitment to learning.
