Reporting to the Director of the Clinical Training and Education Unit (CETU) and working with the CETU team, the Prevocational Medical Education Fellow will be responsible for maintaining and developing the education and training of prevocational house officers at Te Toka Tumai Auckland.
The purpose of this role is to optimise the education and training journey of house officers by delivering and advancing educational programmes and initiatives, providing hands on support to prevocational house officers, and by acting as an RMO liaison between the house officer and the clinical leadership team.

The Prevocational Medical Education Fellow will work closely with the CETU team (director, the SMO Kaitiaki roopu, operations manager, and project coordinator) to develop and improve educational and training programmes for house officers. One main task of the role is to deliver the PGY2 teaching programme, working collaboratively across clinical services at Te Toka Tumai and with the other Medical Education Fellows in the Auckland metro region. The position holder will also work closely with the Prevocational Educational Supervisors to facilitate the smooth transition of Postgraduate Year 1 house officers to the workforce, including their personal and professional growth, and their health and wellbeing. There will also be the opportunity to undertake an audit or research project during the year.

This is a 12-month fixed term position commencing 13 January 2025 (house officers) or 27 January 2025 (registrars). A shorter fixed term period may be negotiable; this is a full-time role but it may be possible to build in a clinical component by negotiation. Job sharing is also possible for the right applicant. **About you**
- You will hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- You are currently a prevocational house officer with general registration (endorsement removed) or a registrar at an early stage of training
- Medical education experience preferred
- Pastoral care experience and/or be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, ability to maintain confidentiality and be trustworthy
- Flexible, positive, proactive problem-solver
- Time management skills with the ability to prioritise
- Training and working experience at Te Toka Tumai would be an advantage
