**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to our Te Manawa Taki team as a** Public Health Emergency Readiness Advisor. **This role is critical in enabling the delivery of the NPHS strategic agenda for Pae Ora (Healthy Futures).
This role builds capacity and capability within the NPHS regional team to prepare and respond to public health events, outbreaks and emergencies. The role will also support NPHS advice to build public health approaches to emergency readiness. You will play a key role in responding to public health events, outbreaks and emergencies and lead the regional NPHS emergency management maintenance and resources portfolio.
**Mōu | About you**
You are someone with proven experience in emergency management, logistics and planning activities. You have leadership experience, including having designed and managed programmes of work/projects and resources. You're able to monitor and analyse performance to ensure quality of work, identify areas of improvement, problem solve, and make sound decisions to achieve goals.
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- A relevant qualification, preferably in a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of the Civil Defence and Emergency Management (CDEM) laws and structures in Aotearoa
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant national and regional plans in emergency management
- A strong understanding in the machinery of government
- Strong writing and analytical skills combined with an ability to synthesise information to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely with a range of audiences
- New Zealand Driving License
- Working knowledge of modern project methodologies
