**The role**:
Right now we are looking for a Kaiāwhina to work as part of our Child Health Services. The role of the Kaiāwhina is committed to supporting hauora (holistic wellbeing) outcomes of all in Aotearoa New Zealand. This is a new role working 20 hours per week until June 2026. The workday pattern is negotiable.
This role is based at the Child Health Centre, Whangarei Hospital but as the Child Health Service is region wide, there will be some travel around the district and required.
You will have the opportunity to work alongside other health professionals and team members within a supportive, multi-disciplinary team. This will provide you with a fantastic environment to grow and develop your knowledge and skills further.
**Primary functions of this role include**:
- Promote accessibility for children and whanau to Pregnancy and Parenting (PPS) and Child Development Services (CDS)
- Promote positive health and developmental messages to whanau
- Work under the direction and delegation of an Allied Health professional when working with tamariki and whanau
- Maintain a high standard of practice appropriate to the position and shows commitment to personal development and competency

**Requirements**:
- Current clean full driver’s license
- Ability to work with whānau and build relationships
- Proven organisational and time management skills
- High level of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to learn and be part of a team
Certificates in Health Promotion, Maori Health or similar will be highly desirable for this role, however not essential to apply.
