Public Health Te Tauihu is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and multi-skilled Health Promoter to be part of our Health Promotion Team.
The role will be focused on strengthening relationships between Health and Education, with a focus on Rangatahi (intermediate and secondary schools). The role will involve developing effective relationships and working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to support education settings to achieve health equity for Māori, Pasifika, and other priority population groups.
The role is based at Richmond Health Hub but will require travel throughout Te Tau Ihu. As part of the Public Health Team, this role will support Public Health with emergency and outbreak responses as required.
This is a fixed term 1.0 FTE position (80 hours a fortnight) for 12 months covering parental leave. The working hours are 7.30AM - 9.00AM through to 4PM - 5.30PM, Monday to Friday. There may be evening and weekend work required to meet the needs of the community and Public Health Service.

To be successful in this role you will be a systems thinker, be skilled at developing effective relationships with a range of stakeholders and have a sound knowledge of the education sector. You will be team orientated, adaptable, and have well developed facilitation, planning and communication skills. You will be knowledgeable of kaupapa Māori, aware of relevant health strategies and committed to achieving equity for Māori. A qualification in Education, Health Promotion or Public Health, and experience working in the education sector is desirable.
