The Microbiology Unit of Microbiology uses molecular and culture techniques to identify a range of organisms including enteric pathogens, multi-resistant organisms, anaerobes, fungi and Mycobacteria.

Our aim is to provide a total lab service of excellence and innovation.

**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The Microbiology department of LabPLUS has a vacancy for a permanent Quality Technical Specialist to:

- To provide support to the Laboratory Manager and SUM to promote Quality across the department.
- Ensure departmental compliance with accreditation and legal requirements.
- Assist with co-ordination of IANZ and internal audit assessments.
- Participation as auditor in internal assessments.
- Co-ordinate External Quality Assurance programmes for the department.
- Contribute to Process Improvement Projects.
- Assist in investigation of incidents and root-cause analysis.
- Oversee the Quality area which is responsible for maintenance and calibration of equipment, quality control checks on media, kits and reagents and in-house media production
- Commitment to attend regular Quality meetings.

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**

You will have:

- Registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the Medical Sciences Council of NZ - mscouncil.org.nz - with a current Annual Practicing Certificate and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Microbiology Laboratory.
- Great communication skills and a knowledge of the analytical processes. You will have a strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and a can do attitude to work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
