Kiln Operator

New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors. You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.

**What you will be doing**:
We are looking for a flexible and adaptable team member to join our Kilns team as a Kiln Operator on a 6-month fixed term basis. On a day-to-day basis you can expect to operate the plant as safely and efficiently as possible whilst adhering to safety and quality control standards and meeting production targets.

Operational tasks will include:

- Operating the plant.
- Housekeeping.
- Quality checks.
- Control room operation.
- Isolations and manual handling.

The plant covers a large area and is multistoried.

Based in what can be a dusty and dirty environment at the primary end of our site this is a shift work position working 4 on 4 off rotating 12-hour shifts (days then nights).

You will also need to be willing to learn and take on new tasks. Along with your ability to communicate well and relate to a diverse range of people you will also need to be accepting of direction from your supervisor and carrying out duties as required of you.
