We are Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. Our main sites are Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Starship Children’s Hospital, located in central Auckland.

We are part of Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, the overarching organisation for New Zealand’s national health service. Te Whatu Ora leads the day-to-day running of the health system, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels.

The Anatomical Pathology Department is a major referral laboratory comprising of Histology, Non Gynae Cytology and Electron Microscopy. We work with other external hospitals from around New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. This means we report on a broad range of specimens and to service this diversity we have an experienced team with specialist knowledge. We are fortunate to have a large number of Consultant Pathologists with considerable experience. We also have a team of very proficient Scientific and Technical staff all working together to provide a quality service.

Our methods, training, expertise and knowledge conform to the highest standards expected by our peers and the community at large. We enjoy a close association with the University of Auckland Medical School and participate in external Quality Assurance Programmes initiated by the Royal College of Pathologists (Australia).

**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We are looking for a qualified Medical Laboratory Technician to join our Histology team at LabPlus
This casual role is based primarily in the Histopathology Team. This role covers all aspects of the routine Histology laboratory, including specimen receipt and registration, assisting in cut up, frozen sections, embedding, microtomy, special stains.

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**

These roles requires good communication skills and a knowledge of analytical processes. Previous histology experience is preferred but not essential as comprehensive training will be given to the right person. You must have a strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and a can do attitude to work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
