The Chef/Cooks role is located at our Peacehaven Village site on Tweed Street. Peacehaven Village provides a range of options for the elderly in our community from self-contained units to hospital care.
**Mō te tūraka | About the role**:
We are looking for a passionate foodie to join our dynamic team here at Peacehaven Village. We're seeking someone who can support and direct team members to successfully provide an excellent meal service.
This is a permanent position working 8.00am to 5.00pm, on a set roster of three days one week, four days the following week.
The opportunity for further hours of work are available by covering sick leave and annual leave, as well as covering leave at Elms Café (Peacehaven site), and the other three sites which Presbyterian Support Southland operates.
**Ngā pūkenga | What you will need to be successful**:
As our Chef/Cook you will be responsible for:
- Daily leading the kitchen team, ensuring that all nutritional requirements for Residents are being meet
- Ability and confidence to provide a meal service for 129 Residents
- Cooking delicious and nutritious foods using a variety of techniques
- Providing food and drink that caters for a variety of needs
- Following a Food Control Plan, ensuring other staff are following and using safe food practices
- Report to, and work with the Food Service Manager, to continue excellence, and development of the food service
- In the absence of Food Service Manager, basic ordering of supplies
- In the absence of the Food Service Manager, replacing sick staff

To thrive in our supportive and caring environment you will need:
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a Chef/Cook position
- The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Be flexible and able to problem solve
- Have a positive and happy attitude
- To be able to work well in a team environment which incorporates a wide variety of personalities, ages and backgrounds
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
