About the role
As a Specialist Health & Safety Inspector, you have the opportunity to influence, facilitate and guide the future of health and safety in the extractives sector, which includes quarrying, mining and tunnelling. You will work to build positive working relationships within the industry, undertaking a range of advisory, assessment, or compliance and enforcement-related activities to ensure organisations are effectively managing the health and safety of their workplaces.
**In this role you will be**:
Conducting inspection and assessments.
Undertake or support investigations of incidents, accidents & complaints.
Engaging with external stakeholders to encourage the development and uptake of best practice.
Ensuring regulatory compliance.
**To be successful, you will bring**:
Expertise within the extractives sector (quarries, mining and major tunnelling work), 5 years' experience in a senior role.
A current Certificate of competence, or have the ability to obtain it.
The fortitude to challenge non-compliant actions when you see them.
The self-motivation to work autonomously, take the lead and ownership of issues and workload.

Salary range
As part of our remuneration framework the full salary range for the position is from $131,260 to $173,680, and our expected starting base salary for the right person is from $141,865 to $148,228. Note: KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contribution is additional to/on top of your base salary.
